Best restaurants in Gran Canaria: selection
We haven’t had the chance to try out all the island’s restaurants yet, but we’ve still enjoyed many meals. Below, you’ll find our favorite restaurants, so far, in different categories.
That’s our personal opinion, and there are plenty of other great restaurants out there.
1. Restaurant Bevir (1 star) – Las Palmas

Our first favorite is the Fortunata menu. Some of chef Jose Luis Espino ‘s creative, contemporary menus are inspired by 19th-century Spanish realist writer and Las Palmas native Benito Pérez Galdós. Here, 90% of our products are extracted from the land of the Canaries or theAtlantic.
The ingredients are first-rate and the textures fascinating. Everything is beautifully presented, organized with attention to detail and refinement. The techniques used are equally surprising. Every step of the menu is a discovery, making Restaurant Bevir a must on Gran Canaria.

2. Restaurant Que Leché (to share) – Las Palmas

We really enjoyed the tasty dishes prepared in this restaurant. Venezuelan chef Jennise Ferrari offers fusion cuisine inspired bySouth America andAsia, based on local produce. His dishes are full of freshness andexoticism.
For the sake of conviviality, dishes can be shared. The restaurant isn’t very big, but we loved its simple, informal atmosphere, under the vaults of the old town. You can also sit out on the terrace and enjoy the lively street scene.

OUR ADVICE FOR RENTING A CAR IN Gran Canaria
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- If you’re planning to explore the mountains, don ‘t take the smallest cars. A more powerful engine will be more comfortable.
- But don’t take too big a car either, as some roads are narrow.
- There’s a lot of demand and it’s an island, so book early.

3. Restaurant I love Mogan – Puerto de Mogan

On the edge of the marina, we were seduced by thewarm and friendlyatmosphere of this little restaurant, where we were greeted by a very friendly team. Like the restaurant’s specialities (fish and seafood), the decor is inspired by the sea, with a few nautical elements here and there. We enjoyed the sunset from our table.
Mediterranean and Canarian flavors take center stage. The menu features mainly fresh fish and seafood, but not exclusively. The dishes, prepared with top-quality local ingredients, celebrate the culinary richness of the region. We tasted a grilled fish of great finesse and the chocolate dessert was delicious, full of beautiful textures.

4. Restaurant Tabaiba (1 star)

In this restaurant, chef Abraham Ortega describes his cuisine as ” evolving Canary Island cuisine”. He starts with local produce and draws inspiration from traditional dishes, but develops and elevates them to a highly gastronomic level.
We enjoyed the pleasant surprises that peppered our Tabaiba menu experience. The flavors, textures and aromas evoke gustatory memories that we try to recognize throughout the meal. Sometimes successfully, but not always. You have to accept that you’re in the dark and just enjoy the moment.

5. Restaurant Los Guayres (1 star) – Puerto De Mogan

In the elegant setting of theHotel Cordial Mogán Playa, Restaurant Los Guayres offered us a hushed gastronomic experience, rare in the seaside resorts of southern Gran Canaria. Chef Alexis Álvarez, a native of the island, fuses traditional Canarian cuisine with contemporary influences.
We enjoyed every dish on the Tasting Menu. The compositions were created using top-quality local ingredients. Fish and seafood first and foremost (red tuna, grouper, squid, shrimp…), but also vegetables and fruit, each more delicious than the last, and all delicately prepared.

Located within theHotel Marina Suites Gran Canaria, at the end of the harbor, facing the sea, this restaurant offers internationally inspired dishes, mostly based on products from theAtlantic Ocean. In a maritime atmosphere (deckchair stripes, wooden shutters and walls covered in fishing net), we enjoyed creative market cuisine.

Celebrity chef Borja Marrero, a native of the region, is in the kitchen. We liked his philosophy. For him, his achievements begin on the land of his farm, with the organic produce he grows there. It’s the assurance of a gastronomic, ethical cuisine, based on sustainability and the valorization of the terroir.
3 different menus: Los Origenes, Lo Mas Profundo de Tejeda or Ejecutivo, so many options to discover, withlight and refined touches, this starred andresponsible cuisine.
