The superb swimming pool at the foot of the Faro, as well as the luxury of the facilities and decor, also won us over. Last but not least, the hotel’s location just across from the ocean and a stone’s throw from Maspalomas beach and the Meloneras promenade is a real asset. The ideal setting for a seaside vacation!

We enjoyed superb beaches, but also admired dunes, a lagoon and visited amusement parks. The ideal place to spend a successful vacation and find a great hotel!

Staying in Meloneras
Meloneras stretches along the seafront to the west of Maspalomas and is home to some fine luxury hotels and resorts. The resort overlooks 2 beaches, Playa de Meloneras and Playa de Maspalomas, as well as a lagoon, the superb Dunes of Maspalomas. We enjoyed staying here for the relaxed ambience of the promenade and the hotels, some of which have breathtaking ocean views. You’ll also find friendly boutiques, restaurants and bars.

More affordable, hotels in the town center allow you to get closer to Maspalomas theme parks such as Aqualand, Holiday World or Palmitos Park. We also found everything we needed nearby, including restaurants, stores and other facilities (train station, pharmacy, shopping centers, etc.).

Located to the east of Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés is also right next to the beautiful Maspalomas Dunes. The long sandy beach is, in our opinion, the perfect place to spend a sunbathing vacation. This part of town is also renowned for its entertainment. It’s a festive place. We found many pleasant restaurants, bars and stores.

Staying in San Augustín
Just east of Maspalomas, San Augustín is one of the quietest parts of the large resort. Here, you can relax to your heart’s content! The area borders a pretty sandy beach. We found it picturesque, with its volcanic rocks. Swimming and snorkeling are on the agenda! You’ll find everything here: restaurants, shopping centers and boutiques.

- Maspalomas is a sunny destination all year round, so it ‘s very popular! Remember to book your accommodation as early as possible.
- The resort hosts the International Carnival of Southern Gran Canaria (more info here), Gay Pride Maspalomas in May and Winter Pride in November (more info here).
- Maspalomas has established itself as one of Europe’s leading LGBTQIA+ friendly destinations.
- Check parking conditions and whether your accommodation has a parking lot. It can be difficult to find a parking space because of the crowds all year round.
- It’s a good starting point for exploring the south of the island and taking various excursions.
OUR ADVICE FOR RENTING A CAR IN Gran Canaria

- If you’re planning to explore the mountains, don ‘t take the smallest cars. A more powerful engine will be more comfortable.
- But don’t take too big a car either, as some roads are narrow.
- There’s a lot of demand and it’s an island, so book early.

Why stay there?
Hotel Faro is at the foot of the Maspalomas Lighthouse and Playa de Maspalomas. Like us, you’ll appreciate the spectacular view of the monument and the bay. Our elegantly designed room had all the hallmarks of a prestigious hotel. We appreciated the soft lighting and wood panelling. The balcony and its panorama were also a real plus. The hotel has a gym, 2 swimming pools and several restaurants, including the panoramic Blue Marlin. The lively Meloneras waterfront adjoins the hotel. Take the time to stroll along and discover the surprises it holds, a lagoon and even archaeological ruins. All the ingredients for a prestigious and sunny stay!

2. Hotel Unique Club at Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort (5 stars)
Why stay there?
Just a few hundred meters from Playa de Meloneras, the hotel impressed us with its services! We were able to admire its 6 swimming pools, dine in one of its world-famous restaurants or take a tour of its casino. Spa enthusiasts will also be delighted. The establishment boasts a superb 3500m2 wellness center featuring an aquatic circuit, salt bath grottoes and a troglodyte pool. Our room also lived up to expectations, with its modern, sober and chic decor. Others even have their own private terrace overlooking a swimming pool. The choice is yours!

At the adults-only Hotel Nayra, you’ll enjoy a peaceful, relaxing stay. The rooms are modern and colorful, with quality amenities that guarantee real comfort. A wellness center offering a range of massages, a gym, bike hire… There’s plenty to keep you relaxed and active! We appreciated the elegantly designed outdoor pool, ideal for relaxing in the sun. There are even stone deckchairs in the water! Located close to Playa del Inglès, the resort is also close to the Yumbo Centrum shopping center and local restaurants.

6. Barceló Margaritas Royal Level Hotel – Adults Only
Why stay there?
The Barceló Margaritas Royal Level Hotel – Adults Only is located in the center of Maspalomas. We liked its modern decor with cheerful colors and modern architecture. Our room was large, comfortable and stylish. We even had a sofa to relax on and watch TV. From our balcony, we could see all the way to Playa del Inglès and contemplate the horizon! The sunset over the ocean was magical. The pool surrounded by trees was a pleasant place to relax and cool off. The open-plan Polynesian-style restaurant will also make you feel like you’re on vacation.

We loved staying at the adults-only Hotel Bohemia Suites & Spa! The setting is relaxed, the colors bright and invigorating. One of the best places to stay in Maspalomas to free your mind and be pampered. On the hotel’s top floor, enjoy the rooftop restaurant and cocktail bar. The panoramic view from our room was worth the trip. On one side, the immensity of the Atlantic Ocean, and on the other, the majestic dunes and mountains of Maspalomas create an idyllic setting that will leave you speechless. The pools, gym and spa also contributed to making our stay a moment of well-being!

8. Palm Oasis Hotel (aparthotel)
Why stay there?
The Hotel Palm Oasis in Maspalomas is ideal for families and couples, or for anyone looking for a relaxing vacation. The spacious, well-equipped apartments offer breathtaking views over the lush gardens. We were particularly impressed by the large outdoor swimming pool. Stretching for dozens of meters, it is punctuated by stone islands and palm trees. There’s even a small children’s pool. In the center, the restaurant-bar is a real eye-catcher. You can enjoy a cocktail with your feet in the water. Children’s activities are also available, including a mini-golf course and a waterslide. Adults can also try their hand at tennis on the hotel’s courts. All in all, the perfect setting for an unforgettable vacation.

Rooms are comfortable and spacious, surrounded by palm trees. The pools are ideal for relaxing or having fun. They impressed us, as did the islands of greenery surrounding the water and the water games. Something to delight adults and children alike! The hotel also offers a wide range of activities for younger guests, including evening entertainment and a children’s club. Located in the center of Maspalomas, the hotel is also just a 10-minute drive from the beaches.

Why stay there?
The Lopesan Baobab Resort is a luxury hotel located in Meloneras. It offers a variety of rooms, from suites to family rooms. There are several swimming pools, including infinity and children’s pools. We were impressed by the hotel’s decor. The materials, shapes and colors are reminiscent of Africa. Take advantage of one of the hotel’s restaurants, Akara, which serves Afriacan cuisine. You can also enjoy local dishes at Restaurant Pili Pili, or simply cocktails at the poolside bars. We were also impressed by the number of activities on offer. Water sports, tennis, aerobics, children’s entertainment, DJ set and evening entertainment are all on the program. The ideal hotel for fun and relaxation!

Why stay there?
Ideally located in our opinion, the hotel has all the makings of a luxury resort. Just a few minutes from the beaches, it’s also close to the pretty Meloneras waterfront. We liked its architecture, inspired by traditional Spanish buildings. The hotel has 6 swimming pools, 5 restaurants and 6 bars. Here, you can sample world cuisine, drink cocktails with your feet in the water and relax in the pool of your choice! You can also enjoy the extensive thalassotherapy center with saunas, Turkish baths, a flotation pool and various wellness treatments. And there’s no shortage of entertainment. The hotel also offers sports activities, daytime and evening entertainment, and a mini-club for children!

The H10 Playa Meloneras Palace is an elegant hotel located in Meloneras. We were impressed by the breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel’s decor is equally striking. It is inspired by the work of Antoni Gaudí, the famous Spanish architect whom we adore and who left his crazy mark on Barcelona. The main lobby was a real eye-catcher, with its bold shapes! The hotel boasts several swimming pools for relaxing in idyllic surroundings. The hotel’s restaurants are equally friendly, with local dishes and international specialties on the menu. The wellness center, with spa treatments and fitness facilities, completes the picture. The hotel is also kid-friendly. A playground, babysitting and entertainment will appeal to the youngest guests. A place that combines comfort, art and relaxation for the whole family!

For relaxation, why not also try the hotel’s jacuzzi? The hotel also offers outings and excursions. The region is full of surprises! We’ve loved the escapades and hikes here.
