Why sleep in Puerto Rico de Gran Canaria?
Puerto Rico offers magnificent beaches and a lively nightlife, making it an ideal destination for relaxation and leisure, including boat excursions. According to statistics, this is the town with the hottest temperatures in Gran Cananria.

Sleeping around the beach – at beach level
Puerto Rico beach is a large arch of fine sand with seawalls for safe swimming.
All around, you’ll find the port and a few hotels that aren’t much higher than the beach.
Benefits:
- Easy access to the beach
- No slope
Disadvantages:
- Noisier
- Paid parking (but not too difficult thanks to port parking).
Our favorite hotel: Hotel Marina Suites Gran Canaria
Sleeping in the heights of Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico has only a few streets level with the main beach, and the valley is quite narrow. As a result, the streets are steep and wind their way upwards, with hotels one after the other.
Benefits:
- Beautiful views from hotel rooms
- Quiet hotels
Disadvantages:
- Staircases and steep streets to reach the city center and the beach
- If the hotel doesn’t have parking, there may not be enough spaces on the street.
Our favorite hotel: IG Nachosol Atlantic & Yaizasol by Servatur – Adults Only
Sleep on the Playa Amadores side
In the next valley, to the west of the main beach, lies Playa de Amadores, one of Gran Canaria’s most beautiful beaches. Hotels and restaurants are all around. Life here revolves around the beach.
Benefits:
- Superb sandy beach
- Animated
- Some hotels are at beach level
Disadvantages:
- Most hotels are on hilltops (steep streets to reach the beach).
Our favorite hotel: Ocean Hill adults-only hotel
Other useful tips to keep in mind
Puerto Rico’s two valleys are very steep, with steep streets and staircases.
Parking can be difficult around some hotels.
OUR ADVICE FOR RENTING A CAR IN Gran Canaria
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- If you’re planning to explore the mountains, don ‘t take the smallest cars. A more powerful engine will be more comfortable.
- But don’t take too big a car either, as some roads are narrow.
- There’s a lot of demand and it’s an island, so book early.
1. Marina Suites Hotel (harbor side)
Why stay there?
Hotel Marina Suites is a modern aparthotel located near the marina, offering superb ocean views. We loved our spacious suite with its nautical decor and well-equipped kitchen. And we enjoyed a beautiful sunset from our large terrace.
But we especially loved the infinity pool, where you can watch the boats come and go in the marina.

2. Serenity Amadores Hotel
Why stay there?
Hotel Serenity Amadores offers a tranquil retreat with breathtaking views of Amadores Bay and the sea. The hotel offers apartments and villas in a serene atmosphere, ideal for relaxing. Some even have Jacuzzis.
Here, the whole team works hard to offer you a stay that will recharge your batteries.

- Access to Playa de Amadores (but the hotel is on high ground, so you have to walk up steep streets).

Hotel Gloria Palace Royal offers a comfortable experience with a breathtaking view of Amadores beach. We really enjoyed our very spacious suite and its sea-facing terrace.
The hotel offers several pools overlooking Playa Amadores, as well as restaurants. Everything you could possibly need!

4. Holiday Club Playa Amadores Hotel
Why stay there?
Holiday Club has several establishments in the Playa de Amadores valley. This one is closest to the beach. Just cross the road!
What’s more, if you’re a large group, the hotel has large apartments with 2 bedrooms and an extra sofa bed.
This aparthotel is ideal for families or groups of friends who want to enjoy the beach.

We loved the clean, modern style of this Ocean Hill hotel, with its breathtaking ocean views.
The apartments are quite large, with sea-facing balconies.

Why stay there?
This accommodation has one of the most convenient locations if you want to enjoy the beach. It doesn’t have the views of some hotels, but a few minutes’ flat walk takes you to Puerto Rico beach.
These well-equipped apartments offer a practical and comfortable experience.
We loved its relaxed atmosphere.

Why stay there?
If you want a convenient apartment right next to the beach, it’s hard to beat the location, as you just have to cross the road!
The apartments have beach and sea views and large balconies.
We also really liked the boho decor with its different textures.

These spacious, well-equipped apartments are ideal for families looking for peace and quiet. We particularly liked the terraces.

Why stay there?
In Puerto Rico, few hotels have specific facilities for children, so we decided to share this hotel with you.
It offers good value for money for families, with a convenient restaurant serving a variety of foods.
However, the hotel is further from the beach.
