November is a good time to visit Gran Canaria. The weather is warm and pleasant, with pleasant temperatures for outdoor activities and days at the beach. Daylight hours average 10:45. Although this is one of the months with the shortest days, as you’re close to the equator, the days are still quite long, with plenty of time to explore all the island’s most beautiful landscapes.

Gran Canaria climate in November – weather forecast

On the whole, the weather is relatively stable during the month, compared with continental Europe, but it can vary from one part of the island to another, and you get a little more rain than in summer.

Seaside weather

Near the sea, conditions are generally warm and pleasant, with plenty of sunshine and occasional cloudy spells. The south coast tends to be warmer and drier than the north.

Weather in the mountains

In the mountains, the weather can be more changeable and cooler. You’ll experience greater temperature fluctuations and increased risk of rain. The contrast between sunny beaches and cooler mountain air offers a variety of experiences.
If you climb the mountains early, you may see seas of clouds before they dissipate!

Temperature in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (north)

  • The average daytime temperature is around 24°C (75.2°F).
  • At night, it cools to an average of 18°C (64.4°F).

Temperature at Maspalomas (south)

  • The average daytime temperature is around 25°C (77°F).
  • At night, it cools to an average of 19°C (66°F).

Rain and Wind

In November, Gran Canaria experiences a slight increase in rainfall compared to the summer months. Rainfall is generally light to moderate and often short-lived. Heavy showers are less frequent but can occur occasionally. Showers are more frequent in the island’s northern and mountainous regions.

Gran Canaria enjoys north-easterly trade winds all year round. These winds help to moderate temperatures, preventing the island from becoming too hot. In November, winds are generally mild to moderate, bringing pleasant refreshment, especially along the coast. However, the southern part of the island is more sheltered from these winds.

In November, daylight hours vary from 10:30 to 11:03.
Sunrise is around 7.20am and sunset around 6.10pm.
The days are shorter than in summer, so you can enjoy the sunset before dinner!

In November, the average sea temperature in Gran Canaria is around 22°C (71.6°F). This temperature is relatively constant on the island, although slight variations can occur from one bay to another. After its warmest months, it’s starting to cool down, but it’s still great for swimming!

Crowds and other conditions

November marks the start of Gran Canaria’s peak winter season. Tourists from Northern Europe arrive to escape the cold. But it remains well balanced across all the island’s attractions.

Dolphins and whales in November

Dolphins and whales can be seen around Gran Canaria in November, as the region is home to a wide variety of cetaceans all year round. We highly recommend it.
The most commonly observed dolphins are bottlenose dolphins, Atlantic spotted dolphins and common dolphins. They can be seen all year round.
Conditions are often just right for a boat trip.

There are tours in catamarans, speedboats and more traditional boats. Departures are mainly from the port of Puerto Rico in the south of the island.
