Best restaurants in Tenerife: selection
We haven’t had the chance to try out all the island’s restaurants yet, but we’ve still enjoyed many meals. Below, you’ll find our favorite restaurants, so far, in different categories.
That’s our personal opinion, and there are plenty of other great restaurants out there.
1. Restaurant Malaka (La Laguna)
In the historic center, Restaurant Malaka is part of the prestigious La Laguna Gran Hotel. We loved its warm, uncluttered decor, dominated by wood, historic elegance and exotic, contemporary Asian touches. The perfect match for the dishes on offer.

The menu is inspired by the flavors of Southeast Asia, China and India. It showcases quality local ingredients and culinary techniques from elsewhere. We opted for the ten-step Tasting Menu. While we particularly enjoyed the Dim Sum and scallops, we were intrigued by the Pani-Puri (India), hollow rolls like eggshells, set on a bed of chickpeas. The restaurant is also a wine library, with a particularly interesting selection of wines.

2. Restaurant Donaire (Costa Adeje)
Restaurant Donaire seduced us with its elegant setting overlooking the ocean. Its contemporary decor in natural tones creates a sophisticated yet warm ambience. The large bay window floods the space with natural light (during the day…) and offers spectacular views of the Adeje coastline.

The cuisine of chef Jesús Camacho, famous for his pastries, offers a modern, creative approach. We were particularly impressed by the eight-course tasting menu, where each dish tells an island story. The Atlantic bluefin tuna, served with a local sweet potato emulsion and a touch of revisited mojo verde, remains a highlight of our experience. The desserts demonstrate remarkable technical mastery.

OUR TIPS TO RENT A CAR IN Tenerife
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- If you’re planning to explore the mountains, don ‘t take the smallest cars. A more powerful engine will be more comfortable.
- But don’t take too big a car either, as some roads are narrow.
- There’s a lot of demand and it’s an island, so book early.

3. Restaurant El Taller Seve Diaz (Puerto de la Cruz)
Still in the La Ranilla district, El Taller Seve Díaz also boasts a warm, intimate atmosphere. With its modern, uncluttered decor, we discovered a bright space that fosters a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Chef Seve Díaz has chosen to combine contemporary design and comfort for a truly sensory experience.

The cuisine here is innovative and offers a refined approach to local, seasonal produce. We discovered a 6-course menu and an 11-course menu, which beautifully blend traditional Canarian flavors with international influences. Each dish is carefully crafted to deliver a fresh, elegant taste experience.

4. Restaurant Etéreo by Pedro Nel (Santa Cruz)

Located in a charming area of Santa Cruz, Restaurant Etéreo is one of the jewels of the local gastronomic scene. Chef Pedro Nel prepares Mediterranean cuisine with Canarian accents, a touch of creativity and meticulous presentation. On the menu, we discovered a varied selection of dishes, with a particular emphasis on quality meats, such as Black Angus or Wagyu. In the spirit of contradiction, we opted for a delicious fish typical of the Canary Islands, called Cherne, accompanied by its corn velouté and yucca and squid purée.

The setting is very elegant, with the kitchen opening onto the room and a warm bar. We couldn’t resist trying a dessert to end our meal on a sweet note. First intrigued by the name of the pastry, “Quel œuf!”, we were then won over by its trompe-l’œil visual presentation. Once the shell was pierced, we discovered a creamy mousse and an exotic fruit coulis.

6. Restaurant Tasca Ihüey (Puerto de la Cruz)
Opened in 2016 in the historic district of La Ranilla, Restaurant Tasca Ihüey captivates with its small-tiled glass front and warm, intimate atmosphere. We appreciated the decor, which skilfully blends traditional Canarian style with modernity: spaciousness, warm-toned stone walls, and contemporary light wood furniture. It’s elegant and uncluttered. What counts is on the plate.

In this haven of peace, chefs Claudio Martínez and Melisa Mastroianni brilliantly revisit Canarian gastronomy. Their menu features local, seasonal produce. We had to choose from the Menu de Saison, a long list of tasty dishes, and opted for a succulent duck breast served with a creamy orange carrot purée. A surprising and successful dessert with a 70% dark chocolate brownie and spiced ice cream…

Brothers Juan Carlos and Jonathan Padrón offer an auteur cuisine that sublimates the products of the Canary Islands. Their tasting menu is a twelve-step gastronomic odyssey, where technique and creativity combine to perfection.
