The best places to stay in Santa Cruz de Tenerife: map
Use our map to find your way around Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with the main areas to stay in:

Staying in the old town of Santa Cruz

The historic center is undoubtedly the most charming area in which to stay in Santa Cruz. We were won over by its picturesque streets and lively atmosphere. Its squares adorned with fountains and historic buildings immerse you in the authentic atmosphere of the capital.
Benefits:
- Cultural wealth: historic monuments, squares and museums
- Varied activities: bars, restaurants, stores and boutiques
- Remarkable architectural heritage: churches, traditional market, and TEA
- Charming pedestrian streets
Disadvantages:
- Risk of pickpockets in busy areas
- Higher cost of living
- Difficult rush-hour traffic
- Possible noise pollution
Our favorite hotels:
Staying north of downtown

The north of the city center, around Parc García Sanabria and Rambla de Santa Cruz, offers a greener, more residential setting. We particularly appreciated the freshness of this green lung in summer. This quieter area is home to a number of prestigious hotels, yet remains within walking distance of the main attractions.
Benefits:
- Close to García Sanabria Park
- Pleasant walks along the Rambla de Santa Cruz
- Quiet yet central neighbourhood
- Close to the Canary Islands Military History Museum
Disadvantages:
- Less lively than the historic center
- Upscale area with fairly high prices
- Further from the Tenerife Auditorium
Our favorite hotels:
Stay south of downtown

The southern part of the city center presents a more modern face of Santa Cruz. It is home to the emblematic Tenerife Auditorium and the Palmetum. This area is generally appreciated for its shopping centers and dynamic atmosphere. It’s also the only place in town where you can swim in the seawater pools of the Parc Maritime César Manrique.
Benefits:
- Close to major cultural sites such as the Auditorium and the Palmetum
- Lively business district with several shopping malls
- Access to the César Manrique Maritime Park swimming pools
Disadvantages:
- Less traditional, more industrial district
- Possible noise pollution
- Less architectural charm

During your stay, we strongly recommend that you use a vehicle to explore the city and the rest of the island in complete freedom. Tenerife’s roads offer spectacular panoramas, especially on the Anaga massif. It’s an experience not to be missed!
OUR TIPS TO RENT A CAR IN Tenerife
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- If you’re planning to explore the mountains, don ‘t take the smallest cars. A more powerful engine will be more comfortable.
- But don’t take too big a car either, as some roads are narrow.
- There’s a lot of demand and it’s an island, so book early.
