Tenerife’s best theme parks
In Tenerife, you’ll find different types of theme parks, mainly water parks and animal parks. What we particularly liked was the abundant vegetation in these parks!
However, there are no theme parks like in Gran Canaria (local, Indian…).
1. Siam Park (water park)

Why visit?
Considered the best water park in the world, Siam Park is an ideal destination for families looking for fun. This huge open-air playground offers a variety of attractions for all ages. You’ll enjoy thrills and spills, but also moments of relaxation by the pools. Its Thai-inspired architecture and lush vegetation took us on a journey. See our dedicated article for more information!

Practical advice
- In Costa Adeje, south coast
- Allow at least half a day, if not a full day, to make the most of this experience.
- The site is partially accessible to people with reduced mobility.
- The water park offers several on-site catering outlets.
- The park is open Monday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm.
- Price: adults 42€ and children 30€.
- Book your ticket now!
OUR TIPS TO RENT A CAR IN Tenerife
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- If you’re planning to explore the mountains, don ‘t take the smallest cars. A more powerful engine will be more comfortable.
- But don’t take too big a car either, as some roads are narrow.
- There’s a lot of demand and it’s an island, so book early.

2. Aqualand Costa Adeje (water park)

Why visit?
Parc Aqualand is well worth a visit if you’re looking for fun and entertainment in good company. It’s home to fun attractions for all ages, including colorful slides. It’s also a great way to cool off in the Tenerife sunshine. Compared with other water parks, waiting times are shorter, because it’s less crowded. At the time of our visit, we were almost alone on the site! For more information, read our full article here!

Practical advice
- In Costa Adeje
- Allow half a day to visit Aqualand and take full advantage of the attractions.
- The site is not accessible to people with reduced mobility.
- The water park offers several on-site catering outlets.

3. Mariposario del Drago (butterfly park)

Why visit? Our review
Close to the famous Drago Milenario, the Mariposario del Drago is a tropical greenhouse home to hundreds of exotic butterflies. We were seduced by this space where butterflies fly freely around visitors. It’s not big, but you learn a lot. And butterflies are always wonderful to watch. The park offers an educational trail through the complete life cycle of butterflies, from egg to hatch. We particularly enjoyed the nursery area, where chrysalises and new butterflies can be seen emerging.

Useful tips

4. Loro Parque (zoo)

Why visit? Our review
Loro Parque is one of the Canary Islands’ best-known zoos. It claims to be “the most modern zoo in the world” and attracts many visitors every year. Before planning your visit, however, we invite you to find out more about the reality of these structures. The park highlights its efforts to improve the welfare of animals in captivity, through conservation programs and adapted spaces. Nevertheless, animal parks are the subject of much debate as to the limits of captive conditions, particularly for marine species.

Useful tips

- Free shuttle service from the main tourist areas
- Length of visit: a full day
- Open daily from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm.
- Price: adults 42€, children (6-11 years) 27€.

5. Las Águilas Jungle Park (zoo)

Why visit? Our review
We loved strolling along its lush green alleys, which concealed exotic plants and magnificent flowers! But beyond the tropical vegetation, there’s also an orchidarium and cactarium to delight exotic plant lovers. It also offers thrilling attractions such as a bobsleigh run and suspension bridges. We also enjoyed splendid views of the canopy. It’s worth mentioning, however, that the park houses animals in captivity, a practice that raises ethical questions.

Useful tips
- In Arona, near Los Cristianos
- Free shuttle service from tourist areas in the south
- Recommended duration: 4-5h
- Open daily from 10am to 5:30pm.
- Price: adults 33€, children (3-11 years) 26€.

6. Palmetum Botanical Garden

Why visit?
The Palmetum is an exceptional botanical garden housing one of the world’s largest collections of palms. We loved strolling through this lush park, which also offers stunning views of the ocean, Santa Cruz and the Anaga massif. Built on a former landfill site, this vast open-air park/museum has also awakened our environmental conscience. Its mission to preserve nature and its sustainable practices, such as the use of recycled water and organic waste management, make it an example of ecology.

Practical advice
