Where to sleep in San Cristóbal de La Laguna: best neighborhoods
Why sleep in San Cristóbal de La Laguna?
San Cristóbal de La Laguna offers a tranquil, authentic setting with its colonial atmosphere and UNESCO-listed historic center. Sleeping in the Old Town means easy access, on foot, to the city’s most emblematic sites. Slightly higher than the ocean and nearby capital Santa Cruz, the air is a little cooler.

OUR TIPS TO RENT A CAR IN Tenerife
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- If you’re planning to explore the mountains, don ‘t take the smallest cars. A more powerful engine will be more comfortable.
- But don’t take too big a car either, as some roads are narrow.
- There’s a lot of demand and it’s an island, so book early.

1. La Laguna Gran Hotel (4 stars)

Why stay there?
Staying at the La Laguna Gran Hotel in San Cristóbal de La Laguna is the ideal way to discover the city’s historic center. It’s right on the edge of the old town. We really appreciated the easy access to iconic sites and the opportunity for pleasant strolls through the narrow streets.
In fact, the hotel is in part a historic establishment, its main building being a vast 18th-century colonial house that has been complemented by a contemporary extension. The combination of old-world charm and modern comforts is, in our opinion, the hotel’s greatest asset. Finally, the elegant decor creates a luxurious, soothing atmosphere.

Thecentral location makes it easy to explore the city on foot, with its cobbled streets, historic sites, churches… The rooms are spacious and the decor elegant and refined, rather traditional.
