1. Malaka Restaurant
In the historic center, Restaurant Malaka is part of the prestigious La Laguna Gran Hotel. We loved its warm, uncluttered decor, dominated by wood, historic elegance and exotic, contemporary Asian touches. The perfect match for the dishes on offer.
![Interior of Restaurant Malaka in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tenerife](https://photos.smugmug.com/Canarias-Lovers/Tenerife/San-Cristobal-de-La-Laguna/Restaurant-Malaka/i-R7r4SN5/0/KWXJVvZwVBcPk24bQg2pN64NPCqmdprQGsDRD8s37/L/room-restraurant-malaka-la-laguna-tenerife-L.jpg)
The menu is inspired by the flavors of Southeast Asia, China and India. It showcases quality local ingredients and culinary techniques from elsewhere. We opted for the ten-step Tasting Menu. While we particularly enjoyed the Dim Sum and scallops, we were intrigued by the Pani-Puri (India), hollow rolls like eggshells, set on a bed of chickpeas. The restaurant is also a wine library, with a particularly interesting selection of wines.

Just 150m from the Cathedral, in a quiet alleyway a little out of the way, the Restaurant Café-Café is ideal for a coffee, a fresh fruit smoothie or a quick lunch break. The terrace is pleasantly simple, and the interior is unpretentious, with light wood furniture and white walls. Typical of the Canaries.

The focus is elsewhere: on glasses, cups and plates. Coffee first, with 11 varieties on offer. Hot chocolates, including orange, and delicious fresh smoothies. We chose one with strawberries and wild berries.

On a small street to the north of the historic heart of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Restaurant Tasca 61 is housed in a low, ochre-fronted house. A few tables are set up in front of the door, under pale parasols. Inside, we liked the long, vegetable-laden wooden counter that greets visitors. Here, we eat organic and local, and rather green.

The restaurant serves artisanal dishes made from local, organic and fair-trade produce. We give priority to relationships with local farmers. OUR TIPS TO RENT A CAR IN Tenerife
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- If you’re planning to explore the mountains, don ‘t take the smallest cars. A more powerful engine will be more comfortable.
- But don’t take too big a car either, as some roads are narrow.
- There’s a lot of demand and it’s an island, so book early.

4. Restaurant Guanchinch & Fusion
In Tenerife, “Guachinches” are small, family-run “bars” serving local wines and traditional dishes. Restaurant Guanchinch & Fusion is a modern version. Also located in the historic heart of the city, we loved its warm, relaxed atmosphere. Within the walls of a colonial house, contemporary tables reflect the kitchen.

This authentic marisqueria may not look like much, but the atmosphere is very welcoming. The decor is sober, with dark wood floors waxed (as on a boat) and white walls. Here and there, decorative marine elements (model boat, rudder…) announce the color.
![Restaurant Isleño Delgado in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tenerife](https://photos.smugmug.com/Canarias-Lovers/Tenerife/San-Cristobal-de-La-Laguna/Restaurants-façades/i-7BsdNVQ/0/L5sHzN9vPMpBWfFxHBZdD2hkhBr5H6svSLkXjcZ7d/L/restaurant-isleno-delgado-la-laguna-tenerife-L.jpg)

7. Restaurant La Concepción 8
Located behind the Church of La Concepción, in the historic center of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, we spotted its warm wooden storefront. Inside, the furnishings are modern, again with wood accents on an earth-toned ceramic floor. But it’s the ceiling that catches the eye. It’s strung with ropes, giving the room a seafaring air.

8. Restaurant La Tasca Faracho
Housed in a colonial house in the historic center, Restaurant La Tasca Faracho offers a setting typical of the region’s restaurants, with its simple, well-cared-for décor and rustic wooden accents. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. We only had to look up at the ceiling decorated with hundreds of wine bottles hanging from the beams to appreciate the conviviality of the place.

On the menu, we found the famous tapas. Croquetas and other“para picar” delicacies are the order of the day, alongside traditional Canarian dishes. We’ve noticed a great range of vegetables that will delight vegans and vegetarians. The dishes are accompanied by a fine selection of local wines.
