Is the seaside resort of Taurito worth a visit?
Yes, Taurito is well worth a visit if you’re looking for a tranquil setting where everything has been designed with your relaxation in mind. You’ll find a beautiful sandy beach, surrounded by mountains, and the possibility of water activities or exploring the region.
1. La Playa del Diablito
On Gran Canaria’s west coast, we liked the location of Taurito, in a small cove surrounded by cliffs. Playa del Diablito is made of grey sand. Particularly peaceful, it’s ideal for family relaxation and swimming thanks to its calm waters. Out of season, it’s a little less crowded than the other beaches in the area, promising a relaxing atmosphere.
- Easy access from the road
- Parking less than 300m away
- Supervised beach in season
- Deckchairs and parasols for hire
- Beach bar and restaurant
- Showers and toilets

2. Lago Taurito water park
The Lago Taurito water park is located in the very heart of the town. It’s probably the smallest water park in Gran Canaria. But we found slides, pools and water jets just like in the bigger ones. It’s always guaranteed to be a fun day out for everyone.
- Open every day of the year, from 10am to 6pm
- Rates: adults €19

OUR ADVICE FOR RENTING A CAR IN Gran Canaria
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- If you’re planning to explore the mountains, don ‘t take the smallest cars. A more powerful engine will be more comfortable.
- But don’t take too big a car either, as some roads are narrow.
- There’s a lot of demand and it’s an island, so book early.
3. The panoramic swimming pool at Hotel Mogán Princess
To the south of Taurito, the swimming pool at theHotel Mogán Princess offers a breathtaking view of the beach and resort. We loved its double-bean shape, which makes it easy to swim laps. It is reserved for adults, with a smaller, circular pool for children.
- Deckchairs and parasols
- Bar

4. Parasailing
We didn’t try it out, but it’s another way of discovering the countryside, with spectacular views of the ocean and mountains over the Taurito coast. It’s possible to fly with several people (up to 3), and if some don’t want to follow you, they can watch from the speedboat.
- Open daily from 11:00 to 16:30
- From age 6
- From €57

5. Kayaking in the Cuevas
From Playa del Diablito, we watched kayakers set off to discover the cuevas, the famous caves carved into the cliffs along the coast. The excursion also allows you to walk along the coast’s beaches (some of which are untouched), swim and even picnic.
- Duration 4 hours
- 62€ per person

6. Taurito mini-golf course
Behind the water park, at the foot of the hotels, the mini-golf course offers a variety of courses to suit young and old alike. We found it very well maintained, if a little decrepit. But it’s a pleasant place to relax and have fun after a day on the beach.
- Admission: €5
- Deposit: €20

Attractions around Taurito
Restaurants in Puerto de Mogán
A 15-minute drive to the north, in the pretty village of Puerto de Mogán, we found a wonderful range of restaurants, all nestled between canals and flower-filled alleyways. Whether you’re a lover of seafood or in search of local culinary delights, or simply curious about new discoveries, don’t miss our article on the best restaurants in Puerto de Mogán.
The archaeological sites of Puerto de Mogán
Still in Puerto de Mogán, we visited two archaeological sites that are linked by a magnificent corniche path overlooking the sea, the village and the mountains. These are Cañada de los Gatos and Las Crucecitas. We enjoyed a refreshing drink in the café set in a mirador overlooking both sites.
A dolphin cruise in Puerto Rico
We had high hopes of seeing dolphins on board, and we weren’t disappointed, as we were able to observe and even photograph them.
A wonderful experience, surrounded by the magnificent scenery of the coast. Sightings are never guaranteed, but in this corner of Gran Canaria, the chances are excellent!
