First stop: explore the historic center of Buenavista del Norte, organized around the Plaza de los Remedios, the central square dominated by the village church. It’s a meeting place for the locals, surrounded by buildings with colorful facades that reflect traditional Canarian architecture. We were immediately seduced by the authentic atmosphere. In the center, you’ll notice a bandstand where concerts are sometimes held, and in a corner nestles the Tourist Office. Take time to explore the surrounding streets.

2. Visit the Church of Nuestra Señora de Los Remedios

It’s impossible to miss the Church of Nuestra Señora de Los Remedios, which dominates the central square of Buenavista del Norte. Erected on the site of an earlier chapel dating from 1513, it originally comprised just a nave and choir. Over time, side chapels were added, financed by the village’s wealthier families, while a small bell tower was built in the 17th century. We learned that the building was completely rebuilt after the fire of 1996, scrupulously respecting its original organization and exterior architecture.

- Paved but flat floor
3. Explore the Punta de Teno lighthouse site

From the center of Buenavista, you can reach Punta de Teno in around 20 minutes by bus 369, as car access is limited to preserve this exceptional site. This rocky headland, one of Tenerife’s wildest spots, offers spectacular panoramas dominated by its iconic red-and-white lighthouse. Located in the extreme west of Tenerife, it is part of the Teno Rural Park, one of the island’s most important protected natural areas. We were impressed by the raw beauty of the landscape and the power of the ocean hitting the volcanic cliffs. Although you can’t visit the lighthouse, you can walk around it and enjoy breathtaking views of the sea and surrounding coastline.
