The room
Our room, the Suite Royale, was in the oldest part of the hotel, dating back to the 18th century. This gives it a unique historical charm. Spacious, 76m2, it comprises a large living room and a bedroom with a king-size bed.
We particularly appreciated the magnificent parquet flooring and the impressive ceiling height. Especially as the wooden ceiling is splendid, typical of Canarian colonial houses.
Elegant lighting fixtures, perfectly chosen, bring a warm ambience to the room. The headboard, a hand-painted mural, is the focal point of the room, with shades of green and crimson pink that blend perfectly with the wood.
In the room, we found modern amenities such as high-speed Wi-Fi, a Nespresso coffee machine, a kettle for preparing hot drinks, as well as a music system in every room to create a pleasant, personalized atmosphere.
Our room at the La Laguna Gran Hotel didn’t have a view, but the decor of the room and its atmosphere were such that we didn’t attach much importance to it.

The bathroom
The bathroom was superb. It featured a beautiful walk-in shower and a very large bathtub. What’s more, the water pressure was excellent, which made our experience even more pleasant.
Part of the walls were covered with an elegant wallpaper featuring birds, really quite beautiful. We found hygiene products from the Codage cosmetics brand, as well as a bathrobe and slippers, at our disposal.
The breakfast
Breakfast at the La Laguna Gran Hotel is a buffet offering a wide variety of homemade products such as ready-made meals, pancakes, omelettes à la demande, etc.
We also appreciated the wide choice of sweet products, such as pastries, fresh-cut fruit and yoghurts, as well as savoury products such as cheeses, charcuterie, ready-made meals, raw vegetables and salmon.
Equipment and common areas
The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi, located on the roof of the hotel, as well as a solarium. We couldn’t get enough of the incredible views of the city, the sea and the surrounding hills.
The gym is also located on the top floor, overlooking the terrace. We liked the large windows. They bring in natural light. The gym is equipped with Technogym brand equipment. There are machines for cardiovascular exercise and a weights area.
The hotel also offers body and facial massages by prior arrangement, to help you relax and unwind during your stay.
The restoration
Adjacent to the hotel’s bright lobby, a pretty patio typical of the Canary Islands, the bar offers an extensive menu of gourmet snacks, homemade pastries and cocktails.
The hotel also features a buffet restaurant and Restaurant Malaka, a restaurant with Southeast Asian influences, from Hong Kong to India, Bali to Singapore.

The La Laguna Gran Hotel in San Cristobal was originally the home of a wealthy La Laguna family. It was later converted into a school, and then into the headquarters of a tobacco factory. Today, the hotel is a 3-generation family project.
