Is the weather good in Tenerife in April? Is this a good time to visit?
April is one of the best times to visit Tenerife. Spring temperatures are ideal, fluctuating between 19°C and 23°C, and sunshine is generous, with 8 to 10 hours of sunshine a day. We find the climate is perfect for all outdoor activities. And during this period, the island is less crowded than in high season.

Travelling to Tenerife in April: summary of conditions
Temperatures
Temperatures are very pleasant in April. The thermometer reads an average of 19°C to 23°C (66°F to 73°F) during the day. Nights are mild, with temperatures around 17°C-19°C (63°F-66°F). We particularly appreciate this period, when the heat is ideal for enjoying outdoor activities without suffering from the high summer temperatures.
Water temperatures
The temperature of the Atlantic Ocean is around 19°C to 21°C (66°F to 70°F). We find these conditions perfect for swimming and water sports. The waters are calm and clear, ideal for snorkeling and diving. But some will still find the water a little cold.
Crowds and prizes
April is an intermediate period in Tenerife. Apart from the Easter vacations, which can attract larger crowds, attendance remains moderate. Prices are reasonable, especially for accommodation and tourist activities. We particularly appreciate this quieter period, which allows us to enjoy the island with peace of mind.
Opening conditions
Everything is open in Tenerife in April: attractions, hotels, restaurants and shops are in full swing. Nature parks and hiking trails are in optimal condition, and water sports activities are in full swing with calm seas and mild weather.
Length of day
Daylight hours average 12:45 from sunrise to sunset. The sun rises around 7:30 am and sets around 8:15 pm. This gives you long days to explore the island and enjoy outdoor activities.

Climate in Tenerife in April – weather forecast
In April, Tenerife’s climate is particularly pleasant and stable. We enjoy this period when the different areas of the island offer optimal conditions for exploration and outdoor activities.
On the coast
Along the coast, conditions are ideal with mild, sunny weather. The southern coastal areas, notably Costa Adeje and Los Cristianos, enjoy the mildest temperatures. You can take advantage of the sea breezes that temper the heat, making beach activities and walks very pleasant. Rainfall is rare on the coast at this time of year.
In the heights
At higher altitudes, particularly in the Teide National Park, temperatures are cooler. We recommend bringing warm clothing for mountain excursions, as temperatures can vary significantly between day and night. The summit of Teide may still have a few traces of snow.

- If you’re planning to explore the mountains, don ‘t take the smallest cars. A more powerful engine will be more comfortable.
- But don’t take too big a car either, as some roads are narrow.
- There’s a lot of demand and it’s an island, so book early.

In April, rainfall is generally low on Tenerife. We note that the north coast receives slightly more rain than the south, but the showers are short and spaced out. Spring weather is stable and pleasant all over the island.

The trade winds blow moderately in April, mainly from the northeast. The southern side of the island remains well protected by the Teide massif. These constant winds help to maintain a pleasant climate and avoid excessive heat.

In April, daylight hours reach around 12:45. The sun rises around 7:30 am and sets around 8:15 pm.
Sunshine is excellent in April, with an average of 8 to 10 hours of sunshine a day. It’s ideal for having time to explore the island. The south of Tenerife, notably Costa Adeje and Los Gigantes, enjoys more sunshine than the north. The Teide region often offers perfectly clear skies, ideal for hiking and stargazing.

Whale and dolphin watching
April is an exceptional time for cetacean watching. We particularly like the sea outings from Los Gigantes or Costa Adeje, where the calm waters make it easy to find your bearings. Pilot whales and dolphins are present all year round. In April, you can also watch the pilot whales that frequent the channel between Tenerife and La Gomera. Visibility is excellent and the calm sea offers optimal conditions for excursions.

April prices
As everywhere, prices vary depending on what you are looking for. Accommodation ranges from youth hostels to 5-star hotels. In April, rates are moderate, except over Easter when they can rise significantly. Tourist areas such as Costa Adeje and Los Cristianos generally command higher prices than the rest of the island.
