OUR ADVICE FOR RENTING A CAR IN Gran Canaria
  • Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
  • If you’re planning to explore the mountains, don ‘t take the smallest cars. A more powerful engine will be more comfortable.
  • But don’t take too big a car either, as some roads are narrow.
  • There’s a lot of demand and it’s an island, so book early.

Most beautiful beaches

Beaches of Las Palmas

Playa Grande, Playa de las Canteras, Las Palmas, Gran Canaria

Playa Grande, Playa de las Canteras

Las Palmas has a wide range of urban beaches where you can enjoy the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Whether it’s surfing, swimming or sunbathing, these seaside spots will ensure you relax under the Canary Islands sun, just 2 steps from the hustle and bustle of the city… Playa Grande (Playa de las Canteras) is one of the jewels in the crown of the Canary Islands capital. We also liked Playa Chica for its more intimate atmosphere, as well as Playa La Cicer, popular with surfers. Playa de las Alcaravaneras offers a more tranquil setting, while Playa del Confital has a wild, seductive character.

Maspalomas beaches

Playa de Maspolamas
Playa de Maspalomas

Maspalomas really fascinated us with its golden sandy beaches fringed by spectacular dunes. Playa de Maspalomas, which we believe is one of the most beautiful in Gran Canaria, stretches over 6km in length, offering plenty of space for all tastes. We highly recommend a visit at sunset to enjoy the exceptional colors. Playa el Veril is particularly appealing for its natural beauty, while Playa de Las Burras is ideal for romantic strolls.

Our review

Maspalomas wins this category thanks to its unique dunes and immense stretches of fine sand. The diversity and beauty of the dune landscapes create an incomparable seaside experience.
Our winner : Maspalomas.

Ease of getting around these cities/regions

Getting around Las Palmas

bicycles

Las Palmas is pretty well equipped when it comes to transport. To get around the city easily, consult the “guaguas” urban bus routes and timetables here. If you prefer 2 wheels, Las Palmas has bike paths and a self-service public bike rental system here.
Finally, to make the most of all the capital’s attractions, we recommend that you choose the Hop-On Hop-Off tourist bus, which will take you leisurely to the city’s best points of interest. Book your ticket

Getting around Maspalomas

Parking in Meloneras

Maspalomas stretches for over 10km and includes different sectors: Meloneras, the town center, Playa del Inglès and San Augustín. Travel by car may be necessary. If you also intend to explore the island, this is the ideal vehicle in our opinion. Find all our advice on renting a car in Gran Canaria here.

There is also a bus network serving the whole of Maspalomas. Alternatively, to be free and avoid parking problems, you can:

  • Use your scooter or e-scooter to go faster and be 2!
  • Rent a bike to get around easily.

Our review

Las Palmas makes it easy to get around thanks to its urban infrastructure. The compactness of the historic center is a major asset.
