Is Playa de las Alcaravaneras worth it?
Yes, it’s a beautiful beach and well worth a visit. We were impressed by its view of the port and its location away from Las Palmas’ best-known beaches. Behind the pleasure boats, sailboats and catamarans, there are the docks and cruise ships. It’s a far cry from the usual beaches, but the spectacle is fascinating.
On the other hand, the beach is very large and we enjoyed taking long walks on it. In our opinion, getting there is one of the city’s main attractions.
Type of beach
Sand or no sand?
The beach floor is made of fine, dark sand.
We loved dipping our toes in for a long walk along the water’s edge.
Swimming conditions and supervision
The beach slopes gently down to the water’s edge.
Signs indicate that the beach is supervised during the season, from 11am to 7pm, as well as on Sundays and public holidays.
Installations
We found showers and toilets right on the beach.
