Is Aqualand worth a visit?
A visit to Aqualand may be worthwhile, depending on your priorities. The park offers fun attractions for all ages. It’s also a great way to cool off in the Canary Islands sunshine. However, the cost and crowds in high season are worth considering. If you like water parks and have the time, Aqualand is an entertaining experience. Otherwise, Gran Canaria offers other interesting options for exploring the island.
We invite you to discover the article we’ve devoted to the many activities and visits Gran Canaria has to offer.
What you can see
A miniature pond for the little ones
As soon as we entered, one of the first things we noticed was the children’s area. Aptly named Children Paradise, it allows even the youngest visitors to experience the thrill of the water, without the risk. The pools are supervised.
A river of pirates
We followed a river that winds its way through the park. All you have to do is slide along on a large buoy, 2 or 3 strong, or on your own, and let yourself be carried by the current to enter a pirate world full of surprises.
OUR ADVICE FOR RENTING A CAR IN Gran Canaria
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- If you’re planning to explore the mountains, don ‘t take the smallest cars. A more powerful engine will be more comfortable.
- But don’t take too big a car either, as some roads are narrow.
- There’s a lot of demand and it’s an island, so book early.
A giant slide with boomerang effect
This is the park’s star attraction: the Twin Racer Turbolance. We had a lot of fun watching the two of them launch themselves into the spirals at the start, ending up on a skyward-facing launch pad.
A wave pool
The wave pool was quiet when we visited. The swell is kicked up every hour and we didn’t get a chance to enjoy it.
A grounded caravel
Among the scenery on the Pirate River, we saw a huge caravel washed ashore. It really felt like an adventure movie set.
An aquatic adventure playground
Some attractions particularly impressed us with their staging. Such is the case ofAdventure Land, where the winding course of slides crosses numerous obstacles in the setting of a castle.
Slides like snakes
The Aqualand park offers a huge number of slides and tunnels, all of which rival each other in their twists and turns. We particularly liked the Snake Falls, which seems to be backed by a colonial church.
A gigantic 8-lane ramp
The labyrinth is a spectacular attraction. The course starts high above the ruins of a fortress and ends with a vertiginous drop down several corridors. Screams and laughter guaranteed!
Colorful roller coasters
All these slides and tunnels amazed us. In all shapes and colors, they are deployed in the park, right in the middle of the arid landscape typical of southern Gran Canaria.
The park also offers interactive experiences with sea lions. We chose to avoid these, as we’re not very comfortable with them. We invite you to find out more to make an informed choice. It’s perfectly possible to enjoy the rest of the park by bypassing these activities.
