Best gourmet restaurants in Puerto de la Cruz
1. Restaurant Tasca Ihüey
Opened in 2016 in the historic district of La Ranilla, Restaurant Tasca Ihüey captivates with its small-tiled glass front and warm, intimate atmosphere. We appreciated the decor, which skilfully blends traditional Canarian style with modernity: spaciousness, warm-toned stone walls, and contemporary light wood furniture. It’s elegant and uncluttered. What counts is on the plate.
In this haven of peace, chefs Claudio Martínez and Melisa Mastroianni brilliantly revisit Canarian gastronomy. Their menu features local, seasonal produce. We had to choose from the Menu de Saison, a long list of tasty dishes, and opted for a succulent duck breast served with a creamy orange carrot purée. A surprising and successful dessert with a 70% dark chocolate brownie and spiced ice cream…

3. Cumai Restaurant
We found the Cumai Restaurant in theAtlantic Mirage Suites & Spa Hotel. It was initially based in the AluaSoul Orotava Valley Hotel, where the Mare Nubium Restaurant is located, which we’ll tell you more about later in the article. Chef Curro Palomares oversees the kitchens of both establishments. At Cumai, you’ll have the advantage of a spectacular view over Martianez Beach.
We found the ‘tasting’ menus particularly innovative. The ingredients are local, but the techniques are modern and theapproach creative. Curro Palomares won the Spanish Championship of Authentic Cuisine in 2007! So look forward to a memorable dining experience!

4. Restaurant Papa Teide
Strolling through the pedestrian streets of the historic center at the end of the day, we were drawn to thefriendly atmosphere of Restaurant Papa Teide, a stone’s throw from Plaza del Charco. Perhaps it was the orange-painted façade, or just the hubbub of laughter and conversation? And when we looked inside, we couldn’t resist blending in with its elegant, modern decor.
The cuisine here features fresh, local ingredients and is Canarian in style, withMediterranean influences. Quality and diversity. Don’t miss the creative tapas, tasty seafood and tender meats. Restaurant Mare Nubium is the first restaurant of chef Curro Palomares, who now also runs Restaurant Cumai, which we mentioned earlier in this article. Mare Nubium is located in theHotel AluaSoul Orotava Valley. We owe the modern, refined ambiance of the dining room to Maria Perez, the chef’s partner. She has created an atmosphere conducive to an immersive experience.
At the Mare Nubium Restaurant, we found Curro Palomares’ characterful menus showcasing local produce. Here too, the approach is creative and innovative. Dishes are carefully presented, combining modern techniques with traditional flavors. Enjoy it in the shade, on the green terrace, with a view of the snow-capped Teide!

Best tapas and wine restaurants in Puerto de la Cruz
6. Restaurant Vinoteca con Pasion
On a side street in the center of town, a 5-minute walk from Playa San Telmo, we found this elegant wine bar. It’s an ideal place to enjoy delicious tapas with friends, accompanied by promising local wines. The decor is a little baroque, with muted, deep colors (purple, green and black) and wallpapers with plant motifs. It’s warm, chic and mellow, like a fine wine!
Tapas, then, but also fusion cuisine based on fresh, local produce. After a few tapas and goat’s cheese skewers, we feasted on a peanut coconut chicken with fresh vegetable tempura and sweet chili sauce. A treat! It’s simple, easy and effective. Perfect for a break between visits to the city’s attractions or on the way back from the beach.

7. Restaurant Olea Pintxos Bar
The authentic tapas bar as we imagine it, with its counter full of small bites lined up “para picar“, to nibble on the terrace, with a good glass of Canarian wine, it’s at Restaurant Olea Pintxos Bar that we found it. The decor is sober and modern. There are a few tables inside, but it’s mainly on the terrace that we sit down to enjoy our homemade tapas. Unless you want to take them home and enjoy them in the old port!
There’s a wide choice of tapas, and everything here is homemade and made fresh daily. Just pick up a plate and make your choice. We fell in love with the different kinds of croquettes, skewered on their bread toast, but also the pimientos, hams and cheeses… Special mention must also go to the small fish fries and vegetable brochettes. Everything is easy, fresh and delicious. There are also ready-to-eat dishes for those who prefer a more conventional meal.

8. Brunelli’s Restaurant
If you like meat, Brunelli’s Restaurant is a must in Puerto de la Cruz. From the street, the message was already very clear to us: between a bull’s head and the American star-spangled banner, the words Steakhouse, American Style appear. The bull is also to be found inside, in the midst of an elegant, sober and woody décor. Yet what immediately catches the eye is the huge bay window overlooking the ocean.
Unsurprisingly, on the menu we found a long list of meats: steak tartare, entrecôte, solomillo, chateaubriand, hamburger or T-Bone… and best of all, this is Spain, the famous Chuletonto be shared by two and chosen by weight. For starters, Iberian ham and carpaccio. There are also a number of fish options, soups and salads and, for dessert, the famous Tarta de Queso, Spanish-style cheesecake.

9. Restaurant Muxacho
Between our visits to the Jardin Sitio LItre and the Jardin Botanico, we discovered the Restaurant Muxacho. It’s nestled in a residential area, a little up in the hills and surrounded by vegetation. It’s a pavilion that we first thought was private before realizing it was a restaurant. Behind its canisses, we fell in love with its very sympathetic bohemian atmosphere, with its painted wooden chairs and woven straw chandeliers.
On the plate, we enjoyed all the flavors of Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine. Tapas, of course, but also Iberian pork, schnitzel Milanese and pastas. The ingredients are fresh and local. 100% of our vegetables come fromlocal, sustainable farms. The menu also offers vegan and gluten-free options. Desserts are homemade and there’s a children’s menu. Don’t hesitate, the value for money is excellent.

10. Restaurant Tasca El Olivo
The perfect address forolive oil lovers! This theme no doubt explains the choice of olive-green chairs on the terrace and light wood furnishings inside. Elegant, sober consistency between the decor and the plate, creating a gentle atmosphere that puts you in the mood. In short, you’ll feel right at home at Tasca El Olivo.
Everything here is prepared with olive oil. You won’t find any butter or lard. The house is dedicated to doing you good, and everyone knows the beneficial properties of extra virgin olive oil. The card had a cuddly effect on us. It’s like the ambiance: soft and refined, with selected suggestions. Its Canarian cuisine blends Mediterranean flavors with Basque and Iberian influences. Best restaurants for healthy, light meals in Puerto de la Cruz
11. Restaurant El Limon
The green facade sets the tone, to say the least! Restaurant El Limon is in fact a vegetarian and vegan restaurant. Inside, we liked the white-painted wood decor on sky-blue walls, with green touches of plants here and there. Behind the long, immaculate tiled counter, you can keep an eye on what’s going on in the kitchen.
On the kitchen side, a plant-based version of traditional tapas, soups, salads and also homemade vegetarian sandwiches and burgers. The menu also includes a wide range of home-made fruit juices. We really enjoyed the daily menu, which includes a first course, second course, dessert and juice for less than €11. Available in vegan, gluten-free and children’s versions.

12. Restaurant La Cocina
It was in the lovely Calle de la Verdad, a pedestrian alleyway as green as a garden, in the heart of the city’s historic center, that we discovered Restaurant La Cocina. it’s a pretty, easy table in soft colors. We really liked the pastel tones of the terrace, which carry over to the interior. Touches of wood to warm up the atmosphere and cement tiles on the tables for a Spanish touch.
The card fits on a sheet of paper. As is often the case in the Canaries, it opens onto a wide selection of tapas. We could stop here. Especially if you only take a short lunch break between two visits. But the rest is promising: 5 meat dishes, 3 fish dishes and salads. All to share. It’s up to you to compose your own menu. You’ll be well advised to pair it with a local wine. It’s fresh, local and very convivial. Friendly welcome.
