Is a visit to Maspalomas Botanical Park worthwhile?
Yes, it’s worth a visit. We enjoyed cooling off in the shade of the trees. A real jewel of greenery. Located in the center of Maspalomas, the garden showcases the flora of the Canary Islands as well as species from around the world. The well-maintained paths allow you to discover the different plants while enjoying a soothing natural setting. It’s the perfect place to relax away from the hustle and bustle and urban density of the lively seaside resort.
In our opinion, this is one of the best activities in Maspalomas.
What you can see
A collection of cacti
We admired the superb cacti at the entrance to the park. Some are huge and, of course, covered with countless thorns.
Impressive exotic trees
Tall trees shade the park. We were particularly impressed by a giant ficus and an astonishing liana tree.
OUR ADVICE FOR RENTING A CAR IN Gran Canaria
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- If you’re planning to explore the mountains, don ‘t take the smallest cars. A more powerful engine will be more comfortable.
- But don’t take too big a car either, as some roads are narrow.
- There’s a lot of demand and it’s an island, so book early.
Palms of all kinds
Along the way, you’ll also come across different species of palm and coconut trees. There are plenty of them all over the island!
A pretty pergola
Stop under the pretty garden pergola and rest on the colorful ceramic bench. We found the decor charming!
Green alleys
We wandered through the beautiful green alleys, enjoying their freshness. Small signs giving the names of the different plants enabled us to learn the Latin or local names of the species in the garden.
Flower beds
Ground cover plants are spread along the garden paths. We loved their vivacious color!
Tropical flowers and butterflies
Beautiful, colorful flowers bloom in the garden. We also saw butterflies!
Stone installations
Several stone installations and mosaics punctuate the park. Some of them intrigued us.
