We recommend a visit to Costa Adeje’s Playa de Fañabé. Located in the south-west of Tenerife, this town beach is long and very well equipped. Bordered by the seafront promenade, it’s close to the resort’s vibrant center.

Why visit Tenerife’s Playa de Fañabé?
Playa de Fañabé is one of Costa Adeje’s most beautiful beaches and best activities! It’s an ideal destination for families looking for relaxation as well as entertainment. You can rent deckchairs and umbrellas, as well as a pedalo with an integrated slide. On the promenade along the sand, you’ll find children’s play equipment, including miniature golf and a trampoline. At the end of the day, this long beach offered us splendid views of the ocean. The wave-swept black sand and orange sky captivated us. It was a wonderful play of light and reflections!

Find out more about the 3 main assets of this beach in our eyes:
- Facilities: it’s very well equipped with sun loungers, parasols, showers, toilets, and even bars right on the sand where you can sip a cocktail facing the water.
- Location: close to many shops, restaurants and hotels. You’ll also be close to the resort’s lively town center.
- Extensive: the longest beach in Costa Adeje! It’s bordered by the seafront promenade, which we loved strolling along.

How to get there – access road
There are 3 options for accessing the beach, depending on your starting point:
- On foot: less than a 10-minute walk from Costa Adeje town center. We recommend you take the seafront promenade to the north.
- By car: the streets around the beach can quickly become congested with tourists. They’re not very wide. Some are even one-way. Before entering the area, we suggest you check traffic conditions.
- By public transport: the nearest bus stop to the beach is “Fañabé Plaza”. It’s about a 10-minute walk away. Several bus routes run through it. Find out more on the official website here.

OUR TIPS TO RENT A CAR IN Tenerife
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- If you’re planning to explore the mountains, don ‘t take the smallest cars. A more powerful engine will be more comfortable.
- But don’t take too big a car either, as some roads are narrow.
- There’s a lot of demand and it’s an island, so book early.

Playa de Fañabé parking lots
The shopping malls along the beach have their own paid parking lots. Parking is the easiest option in our opinion. Otherwise, you’ll find a few parking spaces in the streets near Playa de Fañabé, but they are quickly snapped up. For our part, we parked in the Plaza del Duque shopping mall parking lot to the north of the beach. The first hour was free.

Access to the beach from the parking lot
From the Plaza del Duque shopping center parking lot, we descended a staircase and reached the seafront in just 3 minutes on foot. As we reached a small overhang in the ocean, we could make out Playa de Fañabé on our left. We then walked along the seafront promenade to the beach.

On the sand and in the water…practical advice
Best time to visit
Preferably outside the summer season (July, August) and school vacations. This way, you can avoid peak periods. During the day, traffic peaks between 11am and 4pm. Playa de Fañabé remains a popular beach from morning to night. Water temperatures don’t usually fall below 20°C, even in the depths of winter.

Beach type and size
The beach floor is made up of fine black sand, which is pleasant to walk on. We noticed small pebbles and shells too.
Playa de Fañabé is very long. The sand zone is relatively wide. It’s ideal for walks with your feet in the water!

Conditions for swimming
Swimming conditions are good. The descent into the water is gradual, but soon deep. The bathing area is clearly demarcated between 2 rock dikes. The beach is supervised. There’s also a first-aid post on site.

Facilities and activities
Monitoring
The Playa de Fañabé is supervised from 10am to 6pm.

Showers, toilets, deckchairs…
We didn’t notice any changing rooms on the beach. We did, however, see public showers and toilets. Sun loungers and parasols are also available for hire.
Shadow
There’s no natural shade on the beach, but parasols can be rented for protection from the sun.

Nautical activities
During the tourist season, you can enjoy water sports activities on the beach, including pedal-boating with an integrated water slide. It’s an experience that children generally love!

Catering
There are numerous bars and restaurants on the lively promenade that runs alongside Playa de Fañabé. We suggest the Suka Fruit & Salad Restaurant for a light, healthy meal. For more inspiration, check out our selection of the best restaurants in Costa Adeje (coming soon).
