Is Playa Chica worth it?
Yes, it’s a lovely beach. Playa Chica is one of several beaches that make up the large Playa de Las Canteras, one of Gran Canaria’s most beautiful beaches. We found it perfect for swimming and sunbathing! The waterfront that runs alongside it is also ideal for strolling and jogging.

Sand or no sand?
The beach floor is made of fine golden sand. We loved dipping our toes in and soaking up the sun! There are a few flat rocks in the water.
Swimming conditions and supervision
The area is ideal for swimming. Snorkeling is also possible. Marine flora and fauna can be abundant in the region!

Access by car and parking
There is no direct access by car. The waterfront is entirely pedestrianized. We advise you to park in town and get to the beach by cab, on foot or by public transport.
OUR ADVICE FOR RENTING A CAR IN Gran Canaria

- If you’re planning to explore the mountains, don ‘t take the smallest cars. A more powerful engine will be more comfortable.
- But don’t take too big a car either, as some roads are narrow.
- There’s a lot of demand and it’s an island, so book early.
Public transport access
Playa Chica is easily reached by bus. We recommend you take buses 1 and 2 to the Tomas Miller stop (Playa de Las Canteras), which stop as close as possible to the beach.

Dogs are not allowed on the beach.
Reduced mobility access
A little further along Playa de las Canteras, there’s a sloping access path to the beach for disabled access.
With children
We think the beach is ideal for a family outing! Children can play in the relatively calm sea or make sandcastles. We also spotted some games along the waterfront.
Naturism
It is not possible to practice naturism on this beach.
Eating out
We saw numerous food outlets all along the waterfront. The beach is not far from the town center, which is also full of nice restaurants!
