Surrounded by 2 dykes that plunge into the ocean, Costa Adeje’s Playa de Troya seduced us with its superb scenery set against a backdrop of mountain ranges. At the time of our visit, amateur surfers were practicing on their boards in anticipation of a good wave.

Is Tenerife’s Playa de Troya worth it?
Yes, Playa de Troya is well worth a visit. In fact, it features in our article on the most beautiful beaches in Costa Adeje. Deckchairs and parasols are available for hire. You can also take part in water sports, including pedal-boating with an integrated slide for sliding directly into the water. For the more adventurous, why not try your hand at surfing?

Beach type: sandy, supervised…
Sand or no sand?
The beach floor is made up of fine black sand, which is pleasant to walk on.

Swimming conditions and supervision
Swimming conditions are very good. The descent into the water is gentle and gradual. The bathing area is clearly demarcated between 2 rock dikes. The beach is supervised between 10am and 6pm. There is also a first-aid post.

Installations
We found showers and toilets right on the beach. Deckchairs and parasols are also available for hire.

Our map of Costa Adeje’s best beaches will help you find your way around the coast:

Access by car and parking
To reach Playa de Troya by car, you’ll need to avoid the Costa Adeje town center, which can be prone to traffic jams. Choose a parking lot outside the city center, although there aren’t many outside shopping malls. Free parking is available at the junction of Avenida de los Pueblos and Calle Polonia. It’s a 10-minute walk to the beach afterwards.
OUR TIPS TO RENT A CAR IN Tenerife
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- If you’re planning to explore the mountains, don ‘t take the smallest cars. A more powerful engine will be more comfortable.
- But don’t take too big a car either, as some roads are narrow.
- There’s a lot of demand and it’s an island, so book early.

Access from downtown
From Costa Adeje town center, we recommend taking the seafront promenade south to reach Playa de Troya on foot. It’s about a 15-minute walk with superb ocean views. Along the way, you’ll pass Playa del Bobo.

Public transport access
The beach is a 12-minute walk from the Costa Adeje bus station on Avenida de los Pueblos. Find out more about the local bus network here.

Useful information
Dog
Dogs are not allowed on the beach.

Reduced mobility access
The information sign indicates that the beach is accessible to people with reduced mobility. There’s a ramp down to the sand and a path to get closer to the water.

With children
Playa de Troya is guarded. Entry into the water is gradual, so that younger children can learn to swim at their own pace. You can also rent pedal boats equipped with slides to glide directly into the water. We saw young children trying their hand at surfing!

Naturism
It is not possible to practice naturism on this beach.
Eating out
You’ll find a few restaurants close to the beach, but we’d advise you to head back towards the city center, where the offer is much better and of higher quality. We recommend the Almar Tenerife Restaurant, less than 15 minutes’ walk away.
