Teide&#8217;s volcanic landscapes<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Canarias-Lovers\/Tenerife\/Best-of\/i-pvFVTGs\/0\/KKDmsjHdDTQkfgZWxWqQ2phTkKtkWmQTZw8XtMgZb\/L\/parc-national-teide-tenerife-L.jpg\" alt=\"Los Roques de Garcia\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why it&#8217;s a must<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Teide National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a must-see on Tenerife. We were really impressed by these volcanic landscapes. The Teide volcano is Spain&#8217;s highest peak, at an elevation of 3,718 meters.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It dominates a varied, colorful and fascinating landscape: petrified lava flows, strangely shaped rocks and vast expanses. We were enchanted by the beauty of this subtropical forest. It&#8217;s a relic of the Tertiary era, and the trails in the heart of the headland take you into the fairytale world of this vegetation. We enjoyed strolling around and discovering the charm of these places steeped in history: colorful buildings, Canarian-style balconies, patios and gardens&#8230;<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La Orotava, for example, seduced us with its preserved colonial architecture and typical wooden balconies. And as we strolled along the cobbled streets of Garachico, we were transported back in time to this ancient port city rebuilt after a volcanic eruption.
