Its discreet fa\u00e7ade is deceptive, but its interior design is full of wonderful surprises. It dates back to the <strong>16th century<\/strong>. We really liked the dark bell tower with its <strong>3 bells <\/strong>, which stands out from the sober facade and joins the adjoining Dominican convent. Simple and luminous, it is double, with <strong>two distinct roof lines<\/strong>, each corresponding to the interior naves. The <strong>volcanic blue stone<\/strong> bell tower stands out, joining the <strong>convent&#8217;s ochre facade<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Frescoes by Mariano de Cossio<\/h3>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Canarias-Lovers\/Tenerife\/San-Cristobal-de-La-Laguna\/Iglesia-de-Santo-Domingo-de-Guzman\/i-zcvJd7W\/0\/LjX6DpXZ2VSDGnfXffj3c3t7TvtRJSGLCTf7HLGzh\/L\/painted-wall-santo-domingo-gusman-la-laguna-tenerife-1-L.jpg\" alt=\"Fresco in the Santo Domingo de Guzm&#xE1;n Church, San Crist&#xF3;bal de La Laguna, Tenerife\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>As we entered the church, our eyes were drawn to the <strong>frescoes painted<\/strong> on the walls of the main nave. They cover them almost entirely. The murals rise up to him, between the stained-glass windows.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Privateers&#8217; tombstones<\/h3>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Canarias-Lovers\/Tenerife\/San-Cristobal-de-La-Laguna\/Iglesia-de-Santo-Domingo-de-Guzman\/i-vRZHgXv\/0\/Kc5dtvMk45xzNpqzNF5ShPgkCrhn6DvfL5mqqHmD8\/L\/tombstone-santo-domingo-gusman-la-laguna-tenerife-L.jpg\" alt=\"Tombstone in Santo Domingo de Guzm&#xE1;n Church, San Crist&#xF3;bal de La Laguna, Tenerife\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>We noticed many tombstones on the church floor. Some, in addition to the <strong>family shield<\/strong>, bear the<strong>pirate emblem<\/strong>, a skull with two crossed bones.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The high altar in embossed silver<\/h3>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Canarias-Lovers\/Tenerife\/San-Cristobal-de-La-Laguna\/Iglesia-de-Santo-Domingo-de-Guzman\/i-P3J3zQz\/0\/LrTZ7WrvjLknmqrdfTmQDJrNcjZT8d789xdXGVmm3\/L\/choir-santo-domingo-gusman-la-laguna-tenerife-L.jpg\" alt=\"Choir of Santo Domingo de Guzm&#xE1;n Church, San Crist&#xF3;bal de La Laguna, Tenerife\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>The <strong>focal point of<\/strong> the main nave, the choir is marked by a <strong>gigantic high altar<\/strong>. We were intrigued by the invoice. It is made of embossed silver. Laguna.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From Santa Cruz de Tenerife, it&#8217;s a 15-minute drive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The church is a 2-minute walk from Plaza del Adelantado.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Access by car and parking<\/h3>\n\n<p>Finding parking in La Laguna can be tricky, especially in high season. We had left our car at the <strong>Parking Aparcamiento Adelantado<\/strong>, a 4-minute walk from the Santo Domingo de Guzm\u00e1n church.
