At the foot of its slender silhouette lies a gentle promenade, an immense beach and the ocean as far as the eye can see. Between the pretty seafront of <a href=\"https:\/\/canarias-lovers.com\/en\/best-things-to-do-meloneras-gran-canaria-visit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Meloneras <\/a>and the stunning <a href=\"https:\/\/canarias-lovers.com\/en\/dunes-maspalomas-gran-canaria-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Maspalomas Dunes<\/a>, the Maspalomas Lighthouse silhouettes itself against the Atlantic Ocean. This stone giant dates back to the 19th century and has seen <a href=\"https:\/\/canarias-lovers.com\/en\/best-things-to-do-gran-canaria-visit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gran Canaria<\/a> become a leading tourist destination! We enjoyed admiring it and visiting its small ethnology museum devoted to traditional crafts. El Faro de Maspalomas is classified as a site of cultural interest. It&#8217;s one of the oldest lighthouses on the Canary Islands and one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/canarias-lovers.com\/en\/best-things-to-do-maspalomas-visit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">best things to do in Maspalomas<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_you_can_see\"><\/span>What you can see<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A slender lighthouse<\/h3>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Canarias-Lovers\/Gran-Canaria\/Meloneras\/Phare-de-Maspalomas-Meloneras\/i-TTZCJqk\/0\/Kg2kxDb5gf9hQRVRbkQPZt5q29KGJt9tjJ8tQWgJt\/L\/phare-maspalomas-vue-depuis-plage-L.jpg\" alt=\"Maspalomas lighthouse - View from the beach\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">View from Playa de Maspalomas<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<p>We could see the lighthouse from afar! Almost 60m high, it marks the separation between the <a href=\"https:\/\/canarias-lovers.com\/en\/best-things-to-do-meloneras-gran-canaria-visit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Meloneras<\/a> promenade and Playa de Maspalomas. A landscape well worth the detour.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The former janitor&#8217;s house<\/h3>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Canarias-Lovers\/Gran-Canaria\/Meloneras\/Phare-de-Maspalomas-Meloneras\/i-7jBr3HD\/0\/MHZ6pLnQkmrFwP6WggShgTZ8sBk4hbdVpmTBcfSxG\/L\/phare-maspalomas-musee-maison-gardien-L.jpg\" alt=\"Maspalomas lighthouse - Keeper's house\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>At the foot of the lighthouse, admire the old keeper&#8217;s house. We appreciated the contrast between the basalt stone exterior and the more refined interior. The view from here is breathtaking. We particularly enjoyed contemplating it at sunset.
